"How We Spend Our Time."
TIMEX
Hi, this is Alan. Thanks for reading, and for your interest in these reviews. My contact info is at the bottom.  NEW: since creation of this page, two new applicable watches added, see far below!

This is a sort of "compilation page," featuring six Timex watches, with links to their full review pages. The watches have in common general themes of what I would generically call "how we spend our time." Each, of course, has a different design, and emphasizes different themes, moods, pastimes, aesthetics, and more, but common to each is an underlying "message" to the wearer to encourage them to think more about time, and probably more specifically their "free time," and how they choose to spend it.

I mean, it is a watch. It's not magic, and there is no guarantee that having and wearing any of these will magically transform your way of thinking, or affect how you spend your precious time. But maybe, by being conscious of the intent behind the watches, and with the associated design cues, we can be more aware of how we choose to spend out time. In any case, they are fun, and the diversity and creativity of design and concept is wonderful!

Below, I'll show a single photo of the watch, along with a short summary, and a link to read the full write-up. I encourage you to see the links for the watches that interest you.

In no particular order, let's start with this really cool Camper watch from Timex Indonesia and MAKNA, from Spring 2019. It's quite rare, with only 250 pieces made, titled IT'S TIME. The theme is "reevaluating the meaning of time," and the wearer is encouraged to know that "IT'S TIME to do more, innovate more, thrive more, achieve more, live more. It's time to appreciate every second, and make it matter."
"GET LOST" Timex x Wood Wood of Copenhagen, encouraging us to indulge our "urge to disappear into the trees." When you press the crown to activate Indiglo, it shows a hidden message, GET LOST. The Wood Wood site says that the watch is "a timepiece inspired by the notion of exploration," with the hidden message "signaling the idea of disconnecting and getting lost in the frame of mind and nature."

Timex Snow Peak. This is a pretty radical Camper dial. As you can see, it's missing 3/4 of the dial! Markings are only present from 4-7. This watch is focused on the "rituals surrounding sunset and sunrise." The design has as its purpose, the goal of encouraging a certain type of mindfulness. The inclusion of certain hours, and omitting all others is symbolic of having an awareness that within 24 hours of of our day, "there are times to do these things," and then there is the rest of the time.
This amazing Timex Camper with a Latin phrase is focused on time, in an almost cautionary and foreboding manner!

NIL BONI HODIE. DIEM PERDIDI. With this Latin theme (written in a color that is apparently properly called "shock pink," and is derived from a 17 ct. Cartier diamond!) the watch reminds us that "a day wasted is a day lost." The concept comes ancient sundials. Latin phrases relating to philosophy, religion, living and virtue are commonly found on sundials around the world, reflecting the sentiments of their maker or owner. Some of the phrases on the ancient sundials are quite harrowing, like this one: "UNA EX HIS ERIT TIBI ULTIMA - One of these hours will be your last." (omg)
ANALOG LIFE. While this watch has no specific dial features that relate to "how we spend out time," the concept developed for the watch is one that is encouraging us to re-enroll in a life of analog, to put aside out smartphones for a while, to engage once again in the "joy of analog," in more ways that just reading your watch. Pretty cool concept, check the link.
The 25th HOUR! I saved this for last. It's the 25TH HOUR TIMEX, released April 1, 2019, and one of the greatest corporate gags of all time. You'll see the outer dial shows TWENTY FIVE hours to the day? Really?

The watch asks you, what would you do with an extra hour in your day, if you had it. Like if time froze for everybody else, but just you had that extra hour. How would you spend it. Would you spend it wisely?
Thank you for reading.

I hope you will like it.

I HOPE YOU USE YOUR TIME WISELY
