Trashed Timex

Here is a gallery of old Timex watches that have seen better days. None of the watches are mine. Pictures were from the internet, that I liked and just saved. (Unfortunately I don't have picture credits, as I was not planning on making this page. If anyone sees their watch, lmk, and I'll credit the pic.)

There will be little commentary to the pics. They show various forms and extremes of dial aging. Not sure where each problem lies, but possibilities include moisture and/or mold, discoloration of the lacquer coating the dial, rust, other oxidations, dust, others. Some look worse than others. A lot of the green is, I believe, the oxidation that occurs from copper. I believe that the "base" of many dials was a brass metal or some kind of copper alloy, and when the oxidation has come through the surface paint and lacquer, you see these green colonies. Many of the watches have worn cases. I see in these a form of strange beauty, an accidental form of folk art, almost. Why Timex? Other watches get all manked up, right? Sure, but these are TIMEX.
