Timex Calavera, from Timex Mexico, 2019
Hi This is Alan. Thanks for reading this page, and for your interest in these reviews. My contact information is below. [NEW pics added April 2020, scroll to end to see them!]

Here is a very special Limited Edition watch from Timex Mexico, distributed exclusively in Mexico. It is designed for the multi-day celebration of Dia de Muertos, or Day of the Dead, an important pre-Columbian tradition in Mexico.

"The multi-day holiday involves family and friends gathering to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and helping support their spiritual journey. In Mexican culture, death is viewed as a natural part of the human cycle. Mexicans view it not as a day of sadness but as a day of celebration because their loved ones awake and celebrate with them. In 2008, the tradition was inscribed in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO."
I do not live in Mexico, but I was very fortunate to have received this watch as a gift from my friend Rafa, who lives in Mexico. I was totally surprise and very pleased to have received this special watch, thanks Rafa! [*** NEW! Added pics taken by Rafa of all three versions, scroll to bottom!]

The watch features the skull (calavera, in Spanish). During the Dia de Muertos, handmade skulls, sometimes made from clay or compressed sugar, are placed atop altars called ofrendas, or offerings.
The design layout and execution of the dial of this watch is superb, as can be sign in the daylight and INDIGLO photos. In particular, there is a kind of "granular" appearance to the design of the skull, as well as to the other dial markings, which might resemble the compressed sugar that is often used to make the calaveras. If this was deliberate or my interpretation of just the way the printing turns out, I'm not sure, but it is a pleasing effect. Dial is dark grey, skull is medium grey, and other dial marks are light grey. Numerals, triangles, and other dial marks are more Modern, and are not dissimilar to the Timex Camper Watch.
The watch was obtained from the city of Aguascalientes. Above is the guarantee information.
Another INDIGLO photo. Notice that in the first one, above, the hands were also glowing. This watch has two glowing sytems, INDIGLO dial, and also light-activated luminescent hands. Case is 40 mm, mineral glass crystal, 50 m water resistance. Good leather strap.
Thank you  for reading.

I hope you will like it.
