Series of 8 MLB team watches based on a 38 mm Weekender model.
Hi, this is Alan. Thanks for reading,. My contact info is at the bottom of the page. Here is bright and colorful watch from TIMEX Japan, featuring one of the logos for the Chicago Cubs baseball team. It was issued in 2018, along with 7 other watches featuring Major League Baseball teams.
Retail price for the watch was 8,800 yen.
Watch comes in a nice cube-shaped presentation box, strapped to one of those little watch pillows.
I was surprised to find that also included on the box was this sticker. It's about 11 cm in diameter, and is a reproduction of the dial design.
I live very close to Wrigley Field, where the Cubs play, and so took this picture next to the iconic neon sign, in June 2019.
Wrigley Field (1914) is the second oldest stadium in Major League Baseball, after Fenway Park in Boston (1912).
Watch was purchased on June 7, 2019, from TIMEx Japan online sales.
They give you a white plastic TIMEX bag.
The watch is based on a 38 mm Weekender model, with chrome plated case. You can see here the "banked" edges of the dial, typical of Weekender. The choice of the Weekender as a base for these watches is a good one, a relatively simple baseline, upon with the design can be added, without creating a busy or cluttered appearance.
Strap is red/white/blue like the logo.
The box has an outer sleeve, with a photo of a baseball field, with MLB logo, on the top (closeup, below).
Side of box has this "hologram sticker" from MLB, looks like a kind of authentication sticker. I wonder if that BCC number is a unique "serial number," unique to each watch?
There are other official Cubs logos, such as the one above. I do like this logo, the concentric circles, and it's a nice design, bold, clean. But I'm glad they used the other logo, with the bear cub. First, just the bear itself is pleasing, and also almost all of the watches I've seen feature the above logo, not the bear. So, in addition to being a superior design overall, it has the bear logo which I like and makes it more unique.

Image from TIMEX Japan. As mentioned, there are 7 other MLB watches in this series, and my next favorite one is the Boston Red Sox Weekender. Nice red on white, with black hands. Also, how perfect that BOSTON RED SOX has 12 letters.
