British-made 1950s Timex, unusual lugs.
Hi, this is Alan, thanks for reading. My contact information is below. Here is a nice, well-running Timex from the 1950s.
Mechanical, movement 23, running well. Dial is simple. White background, simple lettering. Can I convince you that the numerals for 12 are slightly larger than the others? I really *love* that at the bottom it just says BRITISH. The British made Timex, mostly made in the factory in Dundee, Scotland, will almost always way MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN at the bottom. I think I have seen this BRITISH notation standing alone, maybe once or twice before, but rarely.

Hands are black "dauphine" type. Nothing luminous

It is quite small, and based on the length of the strap was owned either by a child, or an adult with a very small wrist. I think most likely a child. Fun, stripey strap, single piece, pull through. Notice how the lugs flare out from their point of attachment to the case.
Powered by mechanical movement # 23. (The greenish hue is a reflection from something in the room.)
I really like the casebacks with these stamped design. Always TIMEX in the middle, and four points worth mentioning. Here, it is V-CONIC ESCAPEMENT, GREAT BRITAIN, STAINLESS STEEL BACK, SHOCKPROOF.

Sometimes you will see WATERPROOF, DUSTPROOF, and others.
A good look at the fancy lugs.
Caseback doubles as a movement holder. The movement slots right into that ovoid shape, and the edges secures it in place. Although I would have thought this was an earlier Timex, I'm told that Y8 means it is from 1959.
Movement 23 has 442 SCOTLAND stamped on the back plate.
I cannot get enough of "BRITISH"
Another view of the caseback/movement holder from the inside.
I don't know why I'm so fascinated that numerals at 12 o'clock are larger than the others. I promise you, they are. I blew up the image, and measured it manually. The length of the 1 at 12 o'clock was 6 cm in length, in the blown up version, and the 1 at 1 o'clock and 11 o'clock was 5 cm at in the blown up version. This makes the 1 at 12 o'clock 20% longer than the other 1s. Or said another way, the other 1s are only ~ 83% the length of the 1 at 12 o'clock
More fancy lugs. Almost like the pincers of an insect.
Thank you for reading.

I hope you will like it.
