Blue, mechanical TIMEX "Camper Watch," March 1992.
Rare, compared to the green version.
Hi, this is Alan. Contact information at the bottom. Here is a seemingly pretty rare blue version of the long-running "Camper Watch" from TIMEX, made during the 1980s and 1990s. I won't repeat a lot of information about this watch, which is extensively covered in this article about the Camper. It appears nearly identical to the commonly-found green one, but with a blue case, blue dial, and blue strap.
The only other difference is that the WATER RESISTANT line is gone from the dial, and instead just has the water wave symbol (previously, the dial had both, but at some point in the 1990s, TIMEX must have been satisfied that the wave symbol was recognized fully as "water resistant, and dropped it. But for many years dials had both.)
The lumious material is quite good, better than my other Campers from 1980s, and maybe it's because they are older.
Same one-piece resin case with solid lugs, no caseback. Same metal buckle with HONG KONG stamped (earlier buckles were black).
The blue is a nice blue. There was also a black case version, with the standard black dial, but black strap and black case. I had/have one of these, but can't find it anymore! I am pretty sure TIMEX made these alternative colors for only a short time in the early 1990s. I believe mechanical Camper Watch production ceased around 1994.
ASSEMBLED IN PHILIPPINES, 87, WATER RESISTANT is molded into the back. Most of the Camper Watches were made there, but some of the very early ones were made in Taiwan. Note the little "belly button" in the center. This is where the injection mold has the opening, so the resin material can be injected into the mold.
Thanks for reading.
I hope you will like it.
Alan
